16
Q

If an organism has cilia, what is it considered /called?

17
Q

What is a unique thing that dinoflagellates have?

A

2 Flagella, and they can be bioluminescent.

18
Q

What protista causes red tides?

19
Q

Red tide

A

Toxin that makes a tide look red. Extremity toxic.

20
Q

How are Red Tides made?

A

Overgrowth of Dinoflagellas causes “Red Tides” since the Dinoflagellates produces that tocsin.

21
Q

Paralytic shellfish poisoning

A

Caused when bivalves (organisms with 2 hard shells ex, muscles, clams, etc.) are exposed to Dinoflagellates. It does not kill them but the tocsins are still in their bodies. Deadly when eaten.

22
Q

What is special about a Zoomastigophora?

A

they have between 1 - 1,000 flagella

23
Q

Where can Zoomastigophora be found?

A
  • Intestinal parasites of fish and amphibians.

- Digesting protist in the gut of termites.

24
Q

What does Trypanosoma (type of zoomastigophera) cause?

A

African Sleeping Sickness (spread by the bite of a fly). Found in the blood. 120 days untreated can be deadly.

25
Chaga's Disease
Like the African sleeping sickness but in the Americas. Spread by the bite of a sand flee. It causes heart damage.
26
Taxonomy
The branch of science devoted to the classification and naming of organisms.
27
The meaning of Binomial.
Bi= two | Nominal=Name
28
Name all of the elements in the classification system.
Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species
29
What is a Species?
A group of Individuals that can interbreed (Breed with a similar animal) and produce viable fertile offspring.
30
What Kingdoms does the Five Kingdom Approach contain.
Monera, Protista, Fungi, Plantae, Animelia
31
What Kingdoms does the Six Kingdom Approach contain.
Kingdom Archaebacteria, Eubacteria, Protista, Fungi, Plantae, and Animelia.
