Q

Glycolosis

A

ALL CELLULAR RESPIRATION HAS GLYCOLOSIS!!!
- Glucose is broken down into 2 pyruvate molecules
- Happens in the
cytoplasm
- ANAAEROBIC( don’t need oxygen)
- makes 2 ATP, 2 NADH, 2 pyruvate

Q

Krebs Cycle

A
  • Aerobic (requires oxygen)
  • 2 pyruvate diffuse into the matrix of the mitochondria.
  • Then they are converted into 2
    acetyl-CoA and 2 CO2 are released
    -Yields 8 NADH, 2 FADH2, 2 ATP

Q

Electron transport chain

A
  • happens in cristae of mitochondria
  • electron acceptors in the chain accept NADH/FADH2 electrons. As electrons pass down a series of molecules to O2 : the O2 combines with H atoms to form H2O and ATP
  • FADH MAKES 2 ATP
  • NADH MAKES 3 ATP

Q

Chlorophyll

A
  • Main pigment
  • ABSORBS only red, blue, and violet light
Chlorophyll A- transforms photons to chemical energy
Chlorophyll B- traps other wavelengths + transfers it to chlorophyll a
