Brain region responsible for visual processing
Occipital lobe
Brain region for inhibitions, self-management and decision making,
Frontal lobe
Brain region for sensation, perception - somatosensory and helps discriminate between sensations i.e pain, temp.
Parietal lobe
Brain region for speech, hearing and language. Receives information from the ears.
Temporal lobe
Subcortical structure - regulates the autonomic nervous system - sleep patterns, regulates temperature, emotions
Hypothalamus
Subcortical structure - Produces more hormones, mostly melatonin for sleeping.
Pineal gland
Subcortical structure. Produces dopamine and when stimulated gives feelings of rewards
Nucleus accumbens.
When are dopamine neurotransmitters involved?
Reward.
When are seratonin neurotransmitters involved?
Mood, appetite
Subcortical structure. Produces hormones, growth, testosterone, female sexual behaviour
Pituitary gland
When are epinephrine neurotransmitters involved?
Adrenaline - fight/flight - redirects blood to major organs.
