Q

Affects of Biotic factors on the ecosystem?

A
  • The arrival of new predators will disrupt numbers of prey and other organisms
  • When new species are introduced, they can outcompete a native species for food
  • New species also bring in new pathogens that cause disease and harm the existing species

Q

What is predation?

A
  • Predation is a feeding relationship when one organism (predator) consumes another (prey)
  • Involves the transfer of energy from one living thing to another
  • The lower an organism is on the food chain in an ecosystem, the greater the population must be
