2
Q

What are the ways to prepare a lesson?

A

Performance Based: Set measurable, reasonable standards describing the learners desired performance

Decision Based: Scenario based training, ADM, and teaches critical thinking skills

3
Q

What are the lesson organization methods?

A

Past to Present - Arranged chronologically from the present to the past or the past to the present. Time relationships are most suitable when history is an important consideration.

Simple to Complex: Less information at first is easier to absorb

Know to Unknown: Using something that the learner already knows to relate to something new

Most Frequently Used to Least Used: Starts with common usage before progressing to the rarer ones.

4
Q

What are the training delivery methods?

A

Lecture method

Guided discussion method

5
Q

What is the lecture method and what are advantages and disadvantages?

A

Instructor delivers knowledge via lectures to learners who are more silent participants.

Advantages: Good for large groups, can present many ideas in a short time

Disadvantages: Cant gauge all learners understanding of material, Cant gauge attentiveness

6
Q

What is the guided discussion method and what are the advantages and disadvantages?

A

Similar to lecture method but actively integrates learners into the process.

Advantages: Everyone has the ability to comment, listen and participate. Encourages learners to listen and learn from their instructor

Disadvantages: Can get off topic

7
Q

What are the characteristics of an effective question?

A

Applies to the subject of instruction

brief and concise, but also clear and definite

Adapted to the learners

Centered on one idea

Presents a challenge to the learner

8
Q

What is the group learning method?

A

Small groups who can work together to maximize understanding. Group learning requires active participation from each group member

9
Q

What is the demonstration-Performance Method?

A

Explanation phase - Ground briefing

Demonstration Phase - Showing the student the maneuver

Student performance - Student flys and CFI coaches

Instructor supervision - Let the student do it without talking so much

Evaluation - Say nothing and let the student do the maneuver

10
Q

Why are instructional aids and training technologies good?

A

Are learner centered
Build on previous learning
Support lesson objective
Appeal to learners

11
Q

What is course of training?

A

Studies leading to a specific goal. For example the private pilot course

12
Q

What are blocks of learning?

A

Lessons grouped together for one subject area

Subject areas build up to and reinforce the objective

13
Q

What is a training syllabus?

A

Known as a TCO and is an organized approach to training objective and goals

14
Q

What is the purpose of a lesson plan?

Teaching outline
Selection of materials
Time management of the lesson
Proper teaching sequence
Eliminates unimportant details
Standardization of instruction
15

A
Unity
Content
Scope
Practicality
Flexibility
Relation to course of training
Instructional steps
16
Q

A

MARROWS

MEL (minimum equipment list): what it is, where to find it

Airworthiness Cert: Valid as long as inspections are
current, plane is in good condition

Federal Registration: 3 years

Radio Station License (for a/c) and the Radiotelephone Operators permit (pilot)

Operating limitations (POH)

A

AV1ATE

Annual (inspection authorization mechanic)

VOR (VOR check) (30 days for IFR)

100 hour vs annual (and what can replace what)

Altimeter / pitot static inspection (required even if not
IFR if you have a Mode C transponder) (24 cal months)

Transponder 24 cal months

ELT 12 cal months - Must be replaced or recharged if 50% battery left or it has been used for over 1 hour

19
