Q

TACAN

A

Tactical Air NAVAID

22
Q

OMNI Facility

A

A VOR, VORTAC, or TACAN that provides azimuth info expressed as radials in Degrees from 000 to 359 degrees

23
Q

Cruise Climb

A

A cruising technique resulting in a net increase in altitude as the aircraft mass decreases.

A Clearance instruction to carry out a cruise climb allows the pilot the option of climbing at any given rate as well as the option of levelling off at any intermediate altitude

24
Q

Point Out / Point-out

A

An action taken by a controller to transfer the ID of an aircraft with another controller when control & radio communication will NOT be transferred

25
Jurisdiction
Coordinate and receive approval for any aircraft you control before they enter the jurisdiction of another airspace
26
When and what - Transfer to a Tower
As closely as possible to the control zone boundary unless otherwise coordinated or specified in unit directive, agreement Provide receiver with aircraft id and position
27
When Assigning Altitude...
When assigning altitudes to IFR or VFR aircraft consider the elevation and Flight levels as indicated in assignable altitude and Flight Levels
28
West Bound Radials
180 - 359
29
East Bound Radials
000 - 179
30
Vertical Separation
Minima if ether is NON-RVSM - < FL290 = 1000 ft - Both > FL290 & One < FL 590 = 2000 ft - Both > FL590 = 5000 ft If Both are RVSM - <= FL 410 = 1000 ft - FL410 < AC < FL590 = 2000 ft - > FL590 = 5000 ft
31
Same Track
In the application of separation it is an expression used by ATC to identify identical tracks or tracks that converge/diverge at 1 degree to 44 degree inclusive
32
You may discontinue vertical separation if you have observed the aircraft has passed and ... (3 chart)
Is or includes DND-NWS --- 5 Miles Includes (MLAT/WAM, DND-NG, or RSE not NWS) --- PPS do not overlap All other situations --- 3 Miles Wake Turbulence Separation may be required
33
Reciprocal Track
In the application of separation a term used to indicate tracks that converge or diverge at an angle of 136 to 180 degree inclusive
34
RVSM
Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum The application of 1000 ft vertical separation between RVSM aircraft in RVSM airspace
35
State Aircraft
Any aircraft used for military, customs, police or other law enforcement services of a state
36
RVSM Application
Apply RVSM criteria and procedures to only RVSM aircraft operating within RVSM airspace. Do not provide RVSM criteria to Formations of aircraft
37
Non-RVSM AC in RVSM Airspace (2)
Provided a non-RVSM aircraft has minimum Vertical, Latitude or longitude separate minimum you may, - Clear the aircraft to climb/descend through RVSM airspace - Level off an aircraft in RVSM airspace for traffic purposes
38
VNAV
Vertical Navigation - An RNAV Function that calculates, displays and provides guidance to maintain a vertical profile or path
39
Conflict
The actual or predicted convergence of aircraft that violate one or more separation minimum
40
Crossing Track
In the application of separation, a term used to indicate tracks that converge/diverge at an angle of 45 degrees to 135 degrees
41
Traffic Flow Arrivals (2)
Between YAR - YBB (WW) - Direct Brady on J515 Between YGS - PAKIT(EE) - Direct Trout on J596
42
Handoff Distances
Lower - FL290 10NM
43
Traffic Flow Departures (2x2)
EE - South - DEXTR EE - North - BANJO WW - South - SW GATE WW - North - ANGEL
44
What do you do when Position Reporting
Confirm that all information, position reports, and flight plans are valid and accurate
45
Appropriate Altitude for Direction of Flight
Confirm that the altitude in position reports and flight plan is appropriate for direction of flight
46
Possible WW Altitudes (8)
- Holding - Arriving - Departing - Flight Check of NAVAID - Operating within an altitude reservation - Engaged in Arial Survey, mapping flight or test flight - Operating a Polar Route - Transition from Oceanic within 200 Miles along the Aircraft Track from Oceanic entry and Exit way
47
Polar Route
A northbound or southbound route that enters or exits Canadian Domestic Airspace via designated Russian polar fixes located 75 degrees North Routes are defined as northbound when Aircraft are flying a track of 315 degrees clockwise to 45 degrees and southbound when tracking 135 degrees clockwise to 225 degrees
48
RNPC
Required Navigation Performance Capability
49
RNAV
Area Navigation a method of navigation that permits aircraft operation on any desired flight path within the coverage of ground- or space- based NAVAIDs or within the limits of the capabilities of self-contained aids, or a combination of these
50
Waypoint
A specified geographical location, defined by longitude and latitude, that is used in the definition of routes, terminal segments and for progress-reporting purposes
