Q

Steps of hemostasis

A
  1. Vascular spasms: smooth muscle contracts= vasoconstriction
  2. Platelet plug formation: endothelium injury exposed collagen fibers; platelets adhere
  3. Coagulation: clotting factors present in plasma are released by injured cells, interact w/calcium to form thrombin, this catalyzes joining of fibrinogen to fibrin. Fibrin forms a mesh, traps RBCs and platelets=clot.
