A
  • symptomatic anaemia
  • Hb <70g/L
  • Hb <80g/L in cardiac disease
  • major bleeding
  • transfuse a single unit of red cells and then reassess

Indications for platelet transfusion

A
  • prophylaxis in patients with BM failure and very low platelet count
  • treatment of bleeding in thrombocytopenia patient
  • prophylaxis prior to surgery
    -procedure in thrombocytopenia patient

Indication for FFP

A

-treatment of bleeding in patient with coagulopathy (PT ratio >1.5)
- prophylaxis prior to surgery (PT >1.5)

  • management of massive haemorrhage
  • transfuse in early trauma

DO NOT GIVE IN ABSENCE OF BLEEDING OR PLANNED PROCEDURE
