-be cohesive in some way
Individual Oral
20% of the AP exam. Requires you to select one non-literary and one literary text, connecting each to the author’s BOW and the global issue
H.L. Essay
Requires you to analyze an author’s work with multiple connections to the authors BOW
Paper 1
Given by IB, 35% of grade
Paper 2
25% of grade. Requires you to select two literary texts and compare them. You must connect each to the author’s BOW

Common Features
Diction, devices, technique, or other style choices that shape meaning around the global issue. Often appears in nuanced references to BOW
Content
Topics and subjects in the entire text or collection of texts that relate to the global issue. Often used to connect the chosen sample to the whole BOW
Structure
Similarities or differences in the structure of entire text or collection of texts that relate to the global issue
Purpose
Evaluate the author’s intended purpose around the global issue in the chosen text and BOW. Often used to connect the chosen sample text to the whole BOW.
