SUPINE
Patient lies face down
PRONE
Also known as lateral decubitus or lateral recumbent.
Side-lying
LATERAL
Semi-prone position
To aid in the rectal catheterization
SIMS POSITION
Head of the bed raised 45-60 degrees.
• Seated in a semi-sitting position and may have knees either bent or straight.
Head is higher than the feet.
For px with respiratory distress.
FOWLER’S
The bed is inclined with the patient’s head lower than the rest of the body. (15-30 degree)
Helpful in the treatment of patients suffering from shock.
TRENDELENBURG
It is a common position for surgical procedures and medical examinations involving the pelvis and lower abdomen, as well as a common position for childbirth.
