Body Systems Flashcards
(53 cards)
Skeletal System Primary Functions
The skeletal provides a framework that supports the body.
Skeletal System Major Organs
Bones provide the structure of the body giving it a shape and support.
Skeletal System: Interactions with other system
The bone helps regulate calcium leaves the blood which is important.
Disorders of the Skeletal System
Osteoporosis, any condition or disease that affects the bones and joints in the body.
Skeletal System Facts
- The adult human body has 206 of them.
- There are 26 bones in the human foot.
- The human hand, including the wrist, contains 54 bones.
- The femur, or thighbone, is the longest and strongest bone of the human skeleton.
- The stapes, in the middle ear, is the smallest and lightest bone of the human skeleton.
Basic information about the male reproductive system
(Function) To produce sperm for offspring, releasing pee, and producing the male hormones called testerones
Male organs - penis, testicle, urethra, epididymis, vas deferens, prostate gland, seminal vesicle cowper’s gland, scrotum
What is a penis?
An organ that is made of spongy tissue and fills with blood and becomes erect because a person is sexually aroused
What is the respiratory System?
The collection of organs responsible for taking in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide through processes like breathing, gas exchange, and cellalur respiration
What is the main function of the respiratory system?
Helps take in oxygen from the air and expelling carbon dioxide.
What are the major organs of the respiratory system?
Lungs, trachea ,nose, pharynx, larynx, bronchi.
What are the disorder for the respiratory system?
Lung diseases, asthma, lung cancer, mesothelioma, emphysema.
What does the lungs help with?
Allow us to breathe
What does the trachea help with?
allow airways, a passage
What does the larynx help with?
Helps with breathing, swallowing, and produce sounds.
What does the bronchi help with?
It helps process the breathing
What does the Pharnyx help with?
Helps breath, swallow, and speak.
What system does the respiratory system mainly interact with?
Circulatory system, because the circulatory system helps transport oxygen acquired by the respiratory system through the lungs to the rest of the body cells, while carrying carbon dioxide waste from those cells back to the lungs for exhalation
What is a testicle?
Egg-shaped organs that makes testosterone and sperm
What is a vas deferens?
The tube that carries mature sperm away from the testicle and holds them until it leaves the body
What is an epididymis?
A tightly coiled tube where sperm mature
What is a scrotum
A loose sac of skin holding the testicle and regulating the temperature for making sperm
What is a seminal vesicle
A pouch that makes fluid that gives sperm energy and helps them move
What is a prostate gland?
Walnut shaped organ that makes fluid that mix with sperm to form semen
What is a cowper’s gland
Makes clear fluid that clears the urethra before sperm pass through
