What does emit mean?
To create or give off light.
What does reflect mean?
To take light away from an object and produce it.

Why is it harmful to look at the sun with your naked eye? What are two ways to safely view the sun?
Harmful UV rays can permanently damage your eyes. You can use a pinhole camera or a welders mask to safely view the sun.
Why does the sun appear to move across the sky?
The sun appears to move across the sky because of the Earth’s rotation.
How do the seasons compare in the northern and southern hemispheres?
The season are opposite.
What causes day and night?
The Earth’s rotation causes day and night.
What is the difference between direct and indirect (slanting)?
Direct rays are in the summer because of the direct tilt the Earth and indirect rays are in the winter because of the tilt away from the sun.
What are the two reasons that Earth experiences four different seasons each year?
- The Earth revolving around the sun
- The tilt of the Earth
- The temperature
When do the spring and fall equinoxes occur? When do the summer and winter solstices occur? What happens to the amount of daylight in each of these dates? What causes solstices and equinoxes?
The spring equinox is on March 21st, the fall equinox is on September 21st, the winter solstice is on December 21st and the summer solstice is on June 21st. The tilt of the axis causes seasons. The days become longer in the summertime and the nights become shorter in the winter the days become shorter and the nights become longer.
