Dido falls in love with Aeneas who reciprocates after the Goddesses, Juno and Venus, intervene, however the book ends in Dido’s suicide after Aeneas’ fate to leave is re-asserted by Jupiter.

10) Aeneas prepares to leave while Dido begs Anna to get her closure from Aeneas.
11) Dido begins to prepare for her death, behind the facade of a burning of Aeneas’ belongings.
12) She sets up a pyre and sees her future of loneliness.
13) Using witchcraft Dido curses Aeneas in; an untimely death before his Kingdom, war, viewing innocent deaths, and for Tyrians to hate his descendants.
14) Aeneas leaves. Dido kills herself and is found by Anna, who reprimands Dido’s actions/trickery in her despair.
