Outline 3 reasons why levels of engagement may vary in an area
A
- Age: it has been statistically proven that the elderly are more likely to be engaged than younger people, perhaps due to the fact that they have less responsibility; evidently 25% of Grampound has a pop. of >65
- Economic deprivation: unemployed individuals may have a lower self esteem that develops social deviation (withdrawal from activity)
- Ethnicity: There may be an ethnic minority within an area that faces a disproportionate amount of discrimination thus leading to them being socially isolated
