What is Bowen’s Disease?

A
  • A precancerous dermatosis to squamous cell carcinoma
  • There is a 5-10% chance it will develop to invasive skin cancer

What are the features of Bowen’ Disease?

A
  • Red, Scaly patches
  • 10- 15mm in size
  • Slow-growing
  • Occur on sun-exposed areas such as the head, neck and lower limbs

What are the management options for Bowen’s Disease?

A
  • Topical 5-Fluorouracil
  • Used twice daily for 4 weeks
  • Often results in inflammation/erythema
  • Topical steroids are given to control this
  • Cryotherapy
  • Excision
