superficial keratitis, sometimes referred to as pannus. It is a condition seen mainly in German Shepherd and shepherd crosses and is due to UV light exposure. It is believed that the UV light alters corneal proteins leading to an immune reaction. It is treated with topical steroids and cyclosporine, and animals often require lifelong therapy.
