Brick lane changing over time

A

● Originally called Whitechapel lane but was renamed because local earth was used by brick and tile manufacturers in the 15th century
● 17th century saw an influx of French Huguenots - the area became known for its weaving and tailoring
● 19th and 20th centuries the area was best known for its Irish and Jewish population
● More recently the area has become known as Banglatown following large amounts of Bangladeshi immigration
