• Vacancy arises - Lady Black retires 2021.
• JAC gets 5 member selection committee to consider nominees.
• Commission makes nominee to Lord Chancellor.
• Lord Chancellor can accept or reject Candidate & PM notifies Monarch.
• Monarch appoints Justice - Lady Simler, October 2023.
• The JAC is neutral & independent so allows for more fact based appointments due to it being divorced form the Executive.
