what is the purpose of building regulations control?
ensures building work meets minimum standards. Required in most instances (inc. internal work)
how is a building regulations control certificate obtained?
application made to LA before works start. Officer undertakes compliance checks. Certificate issued on completion

how can a solicitor check if a BRC certificate was obtained? What can they do if one wasn’t obtained?

if not obtained, buyer can ask for regulation certificate to be obtained.

what are the time limits for prosecution?
o Wales: within 2 years of offence
o England: no time limit
what does an enforcement notice require the notice to do?
requires owner to alter/remove incompliant work
what are the timescales for service of an enforcement notice?
o Wales: within 1 year of offence
o England: 10 years
when is an injunction used and what are the timescales?
no time limit. Used if work unsafe.
