What are some laws that protect customers
Trade descriptions act - requires that the business doesn’t mislead consumers with false deceptions
Sale of goods act - set out the right of making sure that the goods meet their purpose
Consumer protection act - new consumer goods must be safe
How does law protect the community and the environment
Environment agency, is sponsored by the government to improve the environment
This means business have to be careful about their amount of production and doesn’t cause unnecessary production that could lead to fines.
This could include smoke or noice
Businesses need to asses the costs of changing there production to ensure it doesn’t create as much pollution./
Wha are some specific laws that control the environment
Landfill tax- limiting the amount of waste
Climate change act - limit the amount of green house gasses
What are the policies about competition
Competition must be fair and if not then they may be fined or prosecuted.
This means businesses cant:
Conspire to fixed prices, where the agreement is made that the price of a product has to be kept above a certain amount.
The cant divide up the market to avoid completion, for example only selling to Europe cos there are competitors in Asia
