Trailer, semi trailer weighing 3000 lbs or less
- 2 rear reflectors at each side
- a brake light if load blocks lights on towing vehicle
Trailer, or semi trailer weighing more than 3000 lbs
- 2 front clearance lamps at each side
- 2 side marker lamps near front or near rear
- 2 reflectors near front or near rear
- 2 rear clearance lamps at each side
- brakes that can stop the trailer if it breaks away from the towing vehicle
Pole trailer weighing more than 3,000 pounds
- one side marker lamp and clearance lamp at each side
- 2 rear reflectors at each side
Drawbar or towing connection
- be strong enough to pull all towed weight
- not be more than 15 ft unless towing objects that cant be easily taken apart
- have a white flag at least 12 in square attached if its chain, rope, or cable
Securing load
- use close fitting cover if load can fall or blow into the roadway
- every truck carrying logs or pulpwood must use lock chains to secure
Projecting load
a load that extends beyond the sides of the vehicle and more than 4 ft beyond its rear must be clearly marked 18 in square red flags
Projecting load requirements
- 2 red lamps with 500 ft of visibility from rear
- 2 red reflectors on rear that can be seen from 100-600 ft in front of lowbeams and located to show loads full width
- 1 red lamps on each side of load visible from at least 500 ft to show max load overhang
Slow moving vehicles
- travel at 25 MPH or less, such as farm equipment and horse-drawn vehicles
- must display these sign when using a public highway
- day time only unless they have proper night equipment
