5. Roll into wind, establish 30 degree bank
6. Full power, increase back pressure, 5-10 degrees nose high
7. Maintain 30 degree bank until 90 degree point
8. At 90 degree point, begin rolling out, while maintaining pitch
9. Rollout to wings level at 180 degree point; airspeed at about 67 knots (1.2 Vs)
10. Hold airspeed without stalling
11. Apply power to resume straight/level

3. Establish and announce heading and altitude
4. Determine visual reference point off wing
5. Raise nose 5-10 degrees to begin climb
6. Roll into bank, enter coordinated climbing turn
7. 45 deg: max nose up and 15 degrees bank
8. 90 deg: pitch level and bank 30 degrees
9. 135 deg: max nose down 15 degrees bank
10. 180 deg: wings level, same altitude/airspeed as entry
11. Roll bank opposite direction and repeat maneuver
12. Re-establish cruise flight at same altitude and heading

Eights-on-Pylons

Answer 3

1. Clearing turns
2. 2400 RPM and 23” MP at 800’ AGL trim level
3. Calculate pivotal altitude: (GS squared / 11.3)+ Field elev
4. Find 2 pylons, 1/2 mi. apart, perpendicular to wind
5. Enter maneuver by approaching midpoint diagonally with wind to back
6. Just past pylon, roll into 30-40 degree turn, putting wing on pylon.
7. Crossing midpoint, roll back to wings level
8. Just pass opposite pylon and roll into maneuver again
9. Complete by crossing midpoint wings level at same altitude and airspeed as entry point.

1. Clearing turns
2. Altitude that will allow 3 descending turns
3. 2400 RPM and 23” MP; below 111 KIAS, trim level
4. Select appropriate landing area
5. Slow to best glide airspeed and configure for landing
6. Abeam landing area, reduce power to 10”, allow nose to drop and trim for best glide airspeed
7. Prop - full
8. After 3 turns, discontinue and execute go around
