Q

Explain how increased leisure time causes social change as you age

A

Retirement provides flexibility and freedom for some individuals. Some people may take this time to spend with children and grandchildren or go on holidays with friends. However some may see this as lack of contact such as not interacting with others like they used to at work.

Q

How can culture and beliefs impact your care as you age?

A

In some cases, as we get older extended family members may care for us. However, in the UK and other societies care can be provided by the welfare state or private and voluntary organisations. With these organisations we tend to take a person centred approach to make the individual feel empowered.
