The Earth is nearly spherical and has layered structures. What are they?
A
The thickness of the thin, rocky CRUST varies between 10km and 100km. OCEANIC crust lies beneath the oceans. CONTINENTAL crust forms the continents.
The MANTLE extends almost half way to the centre of the Earth. It has a higher density than rock in the crust, and has a different composition.
The CORE accounts for over half of the Earth’s radius. It is mostly made of Iron.
