What type of series are the alcohols, what does this mean and why?
They are a homologous series.
This means they react in the same way as they have the same functional group.

They burn to produce CO2 + water.
What do alcohols do in water?
They dissolve to form a neutral solution.

An alkoxide & hydrogen are produced.
What is the consumable use for ethanol?

It is not as toxic as methanol.

It causes blindness.

Damages the liver & brain.

It can dissolve substances that water can't.
