15
Q

How to work out empirical ratio

A

Find Mass and Mr. Divided them. Find ratio. Turn it into simplest ratio. E.g. if its 0.1 and 0.2 they equal 1 and 2.

16
Q

How to find how many atoms are in an element

A

Mass divided by molar mass x Avogrado number

17
Q

How to find uncertainty

A

Find mean (ignore anomalies and to 2sg)
Find range
Divide range by 2.

18
Q

How to calculate number of reacted moles

A

Mass(product) - mass (solute)
Divide by relative formula mass

E.g. 2.0 - 1.2 = 0.08. 0.08 / 2 x 16 (oxygen) = 32
0.08/32 = answer

19
Q

How to calculate maximum mass of element produced

A

Find moles
Using required moles times by RAM

20
Q

How to find mass of element produced (with mass example. E.g. 6g of copper produces 7g of copper oxide. Calculate the mass of copper oxide when 0.50g of copper reacts with oxygen)

A

Mass (product) e.g. 7 / mass (original) e.g. 6
X by mass. (E.g. 0.5g)

21
Q

Why would you not use electrolysis to extract a more reactive metal than with reduction through carbon e.g.

A

Because aluminium is more reactive
Therefore it won’t be displaced by Carbon

22
Q

What is electrolysis

A

The process of breaking down metals through electricity
