What is Conduction?
Conduction is the flow of energy between substances that are in contact. Ex) Spoon in soup and a straightener on hair.
What is a Conductor?
Conductors are materials that allow easy transfer of energy. Ex) Copper, iron, gold, and silver.
What is a Insulator?
Insulators are materials that don’t allow easy transfer of energy. Ex) Plastic, rubber, wood, and glass
How are Insulators helpful?
Insulators keep heat in and keep heat out. Ex for heat in) Staying warm under a blanket. Ex for keeping heat out) Oven mitts
Why do Conductors feel cold when you touch them?
They feel cold because they conduct the heat away from your hand. (Your hand is losing heat so it feels cold)
