Give and example of a genotype
DDaa
Give an example of a phenotype
Flat fingernails
Is this genotype heterozygous dominant, homozygous dominant, or homozygous recessive?
Aa
Heterozygous
Is this genotype heterozygous dominant, homozygous dominant, or homozygous recessive
CC
Homozygous dominant
Is this genotype heterozygous dominant, homozygous dominant, or homozygous recessive
yy
Homozygous recessive
Why does the human make responsible for determining the sex of his offspring?
It’s a 50/50 chance if it’s a boy or girl cause normally females always donate a X chromosome which makes it a girl, if it’s a boy then the male will donate a Y chromosome to the X which makes a boy
How can a brown mouse and a black mouse produce only babies with black fur? What can be said regarding the genotype for fur color of each parent?
Cause if both hamsters are heterozygous there’s a 25% chance they pass on a b allele producing bb (black fur)
What is incomplete dominance
It’s when two traits (colors) combine and meet in the middle to make a solid color
Ex: red flower and white flower do incomplete dominance and it creates a solid pink flower
What is co-dominance
Co dominance is when both traits are displayed
Ex: red and white flower makes a flower with some red petals, and some white petals.
What does symbiosis mean?
Symbiosis is a close, long term interaction between two species
Describe mutualism
a type of symbiotic relationship between two different species where both species benefit from the interaction
Describe commensalism
a symbiotic relationship where one organism benefits while the other is neither helped nor harmed
Describe parasitism
a relationship between two organisms where one, the parasite, benefits at the expense of the other, the host
Give an example of mutualism
The bee collects nectar from a flower, the flower gets pollinated
Give an example of commensalism
The frog uses plants as protection
Give me an example of parasitism and how does this relation ship affect the genes/alleles in the affected populations over time?
A parasite connected to an ant, the parasite can zombify the thing it takes over and then it leaves to zombify more of the same species
