Capter 2:Body Organizatin Flashcards
(24 cards)
The four types of tissue:
Muscle tissue:
Epithelial tissue
Connective tissue :
Nervous tissue:
Muscle tissue
Produces movement in the body through contraction, or shortening in length, and it’s composed of individual muscle cells called muscle fibers.
The three basic types of muscles
Skeletal muscle: attached to the bone
Smooth muscle: found in internal organs such as the intestines, uterus ,blood vessels
Cardiac muscle: found in the heart.
Epithelium tissue
Is found throughout the body and is composed of close packed cells that form the covering for and lining of the body structure.
Protective Barrier.
Connective tissue
Is supporting and protecting tissue in the body structure.
The four types of connective tissue
Adipose
Bone
Cartilage
Tendons
Adipose tissue
Type of connective tissue also called fat; it stores energy and provides protective padding for underlying structures
Bone tissue
Provides structural support for the whole body
Cartilage tissue
Is the shock absorber in joints.
Tendons tissue
Connect skeletal muscles to bones.
The four types of nervous tissues
The nervous tissue is composed of cells called neurons. This tissue form. Brain
Nerve
Spinal cord
The function of the nervous system.
Conduction of electrical impulses to send information between the brain and the rest of the body.
The integumentary system : forms protective two way barrier and aids in the temperature regulation.
Skin Hair Nails Sweat glands Dermatology: sebaceous glands
Musculoskeletal system (MS)
Skeleton supports and protects the body, forms blood vessels and stores minerals. muscles produce movement.
The musculoskeletal system (MS)
Bones
Joints
Muscles
Orthopedic
Bone
Cardiovascular system (CV)
Pumps blood throughout the entire body to transport nutrients, oxygen, and wastes.
The cardiovascular system consist of
Heart
Arteries
Veins
Blood( Hematic system)
Transport oxygen, protects against pathogens, and controls bleeding
Hematic system consist of
Plasma
Erythrocytes
Leukocyte
Platelets
Hematology
The study of blood
Lymphatic system
Protects the body from diseases and the invasion from pathogens.
The lymphatic system consist of
Lymph nodes Lymphatic vessel Spleen Thymus gland Tonsils
Histology
The study of tissue
