Q

Describe how is dry ice manufactured from natural gas (methane)

A
  1. Fuel is burned
  2. Flue gasses are cooled and purified by passing them through water scrubbers
  3. CO2 is removed by absorption into ethanol amine
  4. CO2 and steam leave the top of the reactivator, passing through a CO2 cooler
  5. CO2 is passed through a permanganate scrubber which removes traces of H2S and amines
  6. Liquid CO2 is compressed, cooled and liquified
  7. Solid CO2 is now shaped
