Adenosine (Adenocard)

A

Action: Slows SA and AV node conduction

Indications: STABLE SVT

Dose: 6 mg, 12 mg (second dose) RAPID IVP

SFx: May cause transient dysrhythmias, headache, dyspnea

CI: Asthma

Notes: Lower dose in heart transplant patients

Diltiazem (Cardizem)

A

Action: Calcium channel blocker, reduces contractility, vasodilation

Indication: Stable TachyC (over 150), Mostly Afib, AFlutter (over 150), Stable JTach

Dose: .25 mg/kg, then .35 mg/kg (2nd dose, after 15min) slow IVP

SFx: Dysrhythmia, reduce HR, HypoT, CHF, AV block, arrhythmia

CI: WPW!!

Notes: Used for RATE, monitor BP

Verapamil (Isoptin, Calan)

A

Action: CC blocker, slow SA/AV, vasodilation

Indication: Stable SVT after amio, stable JTach, Stable Afib/Flutter

Dose: 2.5 - 5 mg slow IVP

SFx: HypoT, BradyC, Heart blocks

CI: WPW

Notes: USED FOR RATE, monitor bp
