Plasma

A muscular organ that pumps blood
Atrium
One of the upper chambers of the heart
Ventricle
One of the lower chambers of the heart
Valves
Structures in the heart or veins that close to prevent blood from flowing backwards
Septum
A muscular wall that divides the heart in to two sections
Superior vena cava
The large vein that carries blood to the UPPER part of the the body heart
Inferior vena cava
The large vein that carries the blood from the LOWER part of the body heart
Pulmonary artery
The artery that carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs
Pulmonary vein
The vein that carries oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart
Arteries
Vessels that move blood away from the heart
Capillaries
Microscopic blood vessels that connects arteries and veins
Veins
Vessels then move blood towards the heart
Pulmonary circulation
The flow of blood from the heart, to the lungs, then back to the heart
Systemic circulation
The flow of blood from the heart, to all body tissue (except the lungs), then back to the heart
Blood pressure
The pressure or force of blood as it moves through the arteries
Hypertension
The condition that occurs when your blood pressure is higher than normal for long periods of time
Pulse
The expansion and contraction for artery as blood sugars pass though it
Aorta
The largest artery in the body
