A delusion, as defined in psychiatry, is a false belief firmly maintained in spite of indisputable and obvious evidence to the contrary. .This ‘belief’ is not usually shared with other members of patient’s culture/subculture.
A hallucination is a perception in the absence of external stimuli (for example, believing that you have heard a bomb when no sound is present).
An illusion is a misinterpretation of external stimuli (for example, mistaking a car sound for gunfire)
What is the key significance of the labelling theory of deviance?
It demonstrates how powerfully one’s judgements and identity can be influenced by the perceptions and judgements of other people.
What is meant by ‘Felt or Self-Stigma’?
Describes feelings such as shame that interfere with a person seeking help. It describes the fear or shame that an individual or group may have that they, and their condition, will be negatively viewed. It may result in people avoiding healthcare and not seeking help when needed and not following through with medical instructions because they believe they are not deserving of help.

The food is there so there is a stimuls there so it can’t be a hallucination!! She is smelling the food (as there is food there) but it’s not the real smell –> ILLUSION.
Delusion is a false belief. She thinks that the government is out to kill her hence a PERSECUTORY DELUSION.
