case studies Flashcards

1
Q

strengths

A
  1. provides rich insight of the studies individual/ group and can capture the chance and dynamic of the variables over time which allows for cause and effect to be more accurately established
  2. necessary to conduct as it can be unethical or impractical to manipulate some of the variables being investigated
  3. helpful in stimulating new research if results are valuable

Q

weaknesses

A
  1. time-consuming to conduct (over a long period of time) and to analyse
  2. difficult and even almost impossible to replicate a study and it is so unique that it is difficult to generalise
  3. when qualitative data is used there is the risk for researcher bias in the data collection and interpretation phase
