Q

What are the solutions to Traffic Congestion

A

Encouraging the hiring of electric cars so people travel in a more sustainable way e.g. Renault Twizzy
Park and explore is the Lake district equivalent of park and ride
Bike buses/boats are specially adapted buses to carry more bikes this means that cyclists are not on the roads blocking cars and it encourages more people to cycle.

Q

What are the Solutions to Inflated House prices

A
  • Put clauses in place to ensure only locals are able to buy newly built houses e.g. You would need to prove that you have lived in the area for 3 years, you are already employed in the area or that you are moving to the area for work.

Q

How effective are the solutions to Inflated house prices

A

Effective as clauses remain in place if the house is sold again at a later date it can still only be sold to a local resident
- Ineffective as any new restrictions on buyers the NPA put in place will only apply to newly built properties, 87% of homes in the LDNP have no buying restrictions on them.

Q

What are the problems caused by Lack of services for Local people

A
  • Second and Holiday homes can account for over half of all homes in some villages in the Lake District
  • This can make it almost impossible for local services to survive and for a sense of community to exist in such places, Leads to rural depopulation.
