Yerma
I would cast yerma as a 5ft 4” 22 year old woman, with long dark hair, and brown eyes to be inkeeping with the Spanish setting, and to fit the stereotype of a traditional woman. She would have a pail completion to show her isolation and containment. She would be of slender build to show her frail mind.
Maria
I would cast Maria as a 5ft 3” 20 year old women a tanded completion, brown hair and brown eyes, to be inkeeping with the setting and to represent the ideal woman of the time. She is both shorter and younger than the acter cast as yerma to emphasise her perfection in yermas eyes, as she has achieved yermas only goal of becoming pregnant, at a younger age, exaggerating yermas jealousy towards Maria. She would have a petite, yet curvy build, helping to further this jealousy as mari appears more desirable.
Juan
I would cast Juan as a 5ft 10” 27 year old man with a pail, unhealthy complexion to depict how he is disconnected from natural and infertile. He is both taler and older than yerma to accent how women were subservient to men. He will have dark brown hair and brown eyes to represent the setting and a traditional Spanish man. He will be very skinny to show his weakness and reinforce his illness
Victor
I would cast Victor as a 6ft, 25 year old man, with a tanned completion to show how he works outside, is healthy, and is more desirable than Juan. He is taler and younger to further emphasise this. He would have dark brown hair and eyes reflecting the setting. He would also have an athletic, muscular build to contrast with Juan’s smaller build
Pagan woman
I would cast the pagan woman as a 5ft 7” 40 year old woman with a dark brown tanned complexion to show how she is always outside and touch with natcher. She is taller and older than yerma to depict her states. She will have red hair and green to separate her from the other character as she exists outside of the conventional society of the time. She will have a large curve build with wide “child baring” hips to emphasise her life loving attitude and affinity for children.
The washer women
I would cast the washerwomen as 5ft-5ft 6” 25-45 year old with a tanned complexion to show the setting and time period, the washerwomen come from many generations and families reflected in their height and age. However, they will all have dark brown hair with brown eyes to match the setting. They have vairade builds to give a better representation of society.
Delores
I would cast Delores as a 5ft 6” 35 year old woman with a tanned complexion to represent how she is in touch with nature she is also taller and older than yerma to show her status and wisdom. She will have dark brown hair and green eyes to represent that she does fit in with society but she doesn’t follow it completely. She will have a slender frail build to make her appear older and wiser than she is.
