provides oppurtinity to each person to lead civilised social lives

eg: right to life, liberty, and equality (racial discrimination)

rights of people from certain cultures to enjoy their culture/religion

eg: profess & practise their religion, use their language in public too

the freedoms to something; where the gov. should take action in favour of us

eg: rights to education and healthcare
