War and Violence

A

Central at the Start, Viewed negatively by the End:
+ Simon de Montfort - defeated Henry III
+ English Revolution - Parliament went to war with Charles I and with James II for the Glorious Revolution
- American Revolution - colonists went to war with British Govt to gain independence
Was useful when it was needed to force Kings to reduce their royal authority but by the end of the period violence was viewed as unnecessary and Parliament had become the new way of enacting change especially as voting rights became more acceptable.
