Surface of Class V decay: gingival 1/3 of buccal/lingual surface on any teeth

Filling material we can use: Glass Ionomer Cement (GIC) or Composite Resin (CR)

Objectives of tooth preparation of class V decay:

The difference when preparing a filling using GIC (glass Ionomer cement) vs CR (composite resin):

A

After drilling out all of carious part of teeth (dimensions in picture), we can fill it with GIC.

If using CR instead then we need to do an extra step
