cell junctions Flashcards

1
Q

explain how a focal adhesion (cell-ECM) works?

A

cell has talin - the hemidesmosome, then integrin connects this to the fibronectin of the ECM.

Q

what are cell-cell (cadherens) junctions like?

A

connects cell to cell, cell- actinin - desmosome-cadherin - desmosome - actinin - cell. cadherin is Ca2+ dependent. uses a-actinin not talin to connect to cellular matrix

Q

what is the adhesion belt?

A

Adhesion belt, commonly known as the intermediate junction, refers to the formation of a continuous band-like structure between adjacent cells. The interaction of actin and cadherin forms an adhesion belt that binds two cells
