Cell parts Flashcards
The smallest unit that can perform all life processes, cells are covered by a membrane and contain DNA and cytoplasm
Cell
In a eukaryotic cell, a membrane-bound organelle that contains a cells DNA and that has a roll in processes, such as growth, metabolism, and reproduction
Nucleus
The cell substance between the cell membrane and the nucleus, containing the cytosol, organelles, cytoskeleton, and various particles
Cytoplasm
A phospholipid layer that covers a cell’s surface and acts as a barrier between the inside of a cell and the cell’s enviroment
Cell Membrane
A rigid structure that surrounds the cell membrane and provides support to the cell
Cell Wall
An organelle in the cytoplasm of cells that functions in energy production
Mitochondria
A plastid containing chlorophyll
Chloroplast
Cell organelle that helps make and package materials to be transported out of the cell
Golgi Complex
A system of a membrane’s that is found in a cell’s cytoplasm and that assists in the production, processing, and transport of proteins and in the production of lipids
Endoplasmic Reticulum
A cell organelle composed of RNA and protein; the site of protein sythesis
Ribosome
A cell organelle that contains digestive enzymes
Lysosome
A membrane-bound cavity within a cell, often containing a watery liquid or secretion
Vacuole
