Cell Structure Flashcards
What a prokaryotic cell?
Single-celled organisms which are smaller such as bacteria.
What is the function of a vesicle?
Transport substances in and out cell as well as between organelles.
Three organelles in plane cell that aren’t in animal cell:
Chloroplast
Plasmodesmata
Cell wall
Vacuole
What is the function of mitochondria?
Aerobic Respiration to produce ATP.
What organelles are involved in protein synthesis?
Rough endoplasmic reticulum
Ribosomes
Golgi apparatus
Vesicles
Give one function of lysosomes.
Digest invading cells
Break down worn out components
Name the organelle responsible for separation of chromosomes during cell division.
Centrioles.
Main function of cytoskeleton?
Support cells organelles, keeping them in shape
Maintains it shape
Transports organelles and materials within a cell
Causes the cell to move
Difference between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells.
Prokaryotic are smaller with circular dna while eukaryotic is liberal dna. Prokaryotic have no nucleus and have a polysaccharides cell wall while eukaryotic have a chitin cell walls on fungi and a cellulose cell wall in plants.
Eukaryotic have more organelles and have ribosomes over 20 nanometer.
What microscope has the highest resolution and microscope?
Transmission electron microscope
What type of image does a scanning electron microscope produce?
3D image of the surface of a cell.
