cells and microbes bio Flashcards
(40 cards)
what are the 7 things you need to survive?
Movement , respiration , sensitivity , growth , reproduction , excretion , nutrition
what is respiration
releasing energy
what is excretion
releasing waste products
what is in an animal cell?
nucleus , cell membrane , mitochondria , cytoplasm
what does the nucleus do ?
controls the cells functions and stores DNA
what does the cell membrane do ?
Controls the substances entering and leaving the cell
what does the mitochondria do ?
Respiration takes place here and releasing energy
What does the cytoplasm do ?
Its a gel like substance and most chemical reactions take place here.
what does the cell wall do ?
Made of cellouse and provides support and structure to the cell
what does the vacuole do ?
it stores nutrients and water
what does the chloroplast do ?
contains chlorophyll and is required for photosynthesis
what is in a plant cell?
cytoplasm , nucleus , cell wall , cell membrane , chlorplast , vacuole , mitochondria
What are specialised cells ?
cells that have different shapes or features that allow them to perform specific functions
where is the cilated cell located ?
the respiratory track
where are the red blood cells located ?
Made in the bone marrow and found in the blood
where are the white blood cells found ?
made in the bone marrow and found in the blood
where are the egg cells found ?
the ovaries
what is the cilated cells function ?
provides force for the transport of mucus along the airway
what is the red blood cells function ?
transports oxygen around the body
What is the white blood cells function ?
it attacks invaders such as viruses and bacteria
what is the sperm cells function ?
Used to fertillise an egg and pass down information
what is the egg cells function ?
Generating a new individual
where is the palisade cell found ?
on the leaves
what is the palisades cell function
its used for phtosynthesis
