Cells and Mitosis Flashcards
(10 cards)
Mitosis
A cell division process that replicated DNA then splits the cell into two sister cells with identical DNA.
Metaphase
The cell phase in which the chromosomes line up along the center of the cell.
Eukaryotic
Cells that DO contain a nucleus. These cells undergo mitosis.
Metaphase
The cell phase during which microtubules connect the centromeres of the chromosomes to the poles of the spindle.
Equator
Another term for the center of the cell where the chromosomes line up during mitosis.
Chromatid
What each of the two strands are called after a chromosome has made a copy of itself.
Telophase
The cell phase in which a nuclear envelope surrounds each set of chromosomes.
Mitosis is the division of the _______.
Nucleus
The cell phase during which identical sets of chromosomes are moved to opposite sides of the cell.
Anaphase
Cytokinesis
The phase in which the cell membrane moves inward to create two daughter cells, each with it’s own nucleus containing identical chromosomes or genetic information.
