Cells, DNA, Chromosomes Flashcards
(11 cards)
The 3 aspects of modern cell theory:
Smallest living units. All living things are made up of one or more cells. All cells come from other pre-existing cells
Nucleus Function:
Controls all of the cells activites
Cytoplasm:
Responsible for giving a cell its shape, keeps the organelles in place.
Ribosome:
Synthesizes proteins for the cell
Endoplasmic Reticulum:
To produce proteins for the rest of the cells to function
Golgi Body:
Processes and packages proteins sorted for transporting series of membranes
Functions of proteins in the body:
Repairing Tissues, Antibodies support immune function. Support muscle contraction and movement
What is a chromosome?
Is a long coiled strand of DNA containing genes.
What is DNA
Contains the instructions for making proteins within the cell
Adenine goes with
Thymine
Cytosine goes with
guanine
