1
Q

Differentiate eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells.

A

Eukaryotic cells are complex and include all animal and plant cells
Prokaryotic cells are smaller and simpler e.g. bacteria

Q

Name 2 facts about bacterial cells

A

Can have any of these-

  • They are prokaryotic
  • They have no nucleus
  • They have a flagellum like a sperm cell (for movement)
  • Small simple structure

Q

2 facts about Sperm cells

A

Any of these facts-

  • Their function is to transport male’s DNA to the female egg.
  • Has a haploid nucleus
  • Has a mitochondria to provide with energy to swim to the unfertilised egg
  • Has a long tail so it can swim the the unfertilised egg
  • Stores acrosomes at the front of its head so it can digest through the membrane of the egg.

Q

2 facts about the egg cell

A

Any of these facts-

  • Function is to hold the female DNA
  • It like the sperm cell has a haploid nucleus
  • After fertilisation the egg changes its structure
  • It contains nutrients to feed the embryo.
