Q

Recall causes of Atrophy

A
  • Decrease workload- e.g broken limb immobilsed during complete bed rest after aster cast.
  • Loss of innervations - Damage to the nerve supply leads to atrophy of the muscle fibres of that particular muscle
  • Hypoxia
  • Inadequate nutrition

-Loss of endocrine stimulation -e.g loss of estrogen after menopause 👉 atrophy of vagina, uterus and endometrium
👉Associated with aging
