Cemical Reaction Flashcards
(10 cards)
What is a catalyst?
A catalyst speeds up a chemical reaction.
What is a Precipitate?
A Precipitate occurs when two liquids in a chemical reaction create a solid.
What are ALL of the clues that a chemical reaction occurred?
Gas, New Substance, Temperature Change, Color Change, Precipitate.
What is the difference between endothermic and exothermic reactions?
An exothermic reaction has too much energy, while an endothermic reaction has too little energy.
Why is a chemical reaction different from a physical reaction?
A chemical reaction can not be undone, while a physical reaction can be undone.
Does hot or cold temperatures affect the speed of a chemical reaction?
Yes, it does affect the speed of a chemical reaction.
Does a chemical reaction always involve chemicals that are dangerous, and explosions?
No.
Can a catalyst slow down a chemical reaction?
No, it can only speed I up.
What is and endothermic reaction?
An endothermic reaction needs more energy to allow a product to be formed.
What is an exothermic reaction?
An exothermic reaction is a reaction that has too much energy to create a product, so it heats up everything around it.
