What is handbuilding?
Pottery done by hand w/o a wheel.
What is pinching?
Pinching the clay to shape it
What is coil?
Rolling out coils and joining them together with tools/fingers
What is molding?
Flat slabs are pressed into molds
What is slip?
Slip is liquid clay that acts as glue
What does it mean to score and slip?
Cutting indents into leather hard clay and using slip to stick it together
What are the stages of dryness?
Wet, leather hard, bone dry
What is sgraffito?
Leather hard clay is coated with a colored slip, and then scraped to make patterns through the slip
What is wax resist?
putting a wax medium over glaze
