Moving restrictions
Cannot be operated from a moving aircraft or from a moving land or water borne vehicle unless the aircraft is flown over a sparsely populated area and is not for compensation.
Operation at night
Anti collision lighting and visibility 3SM
Visual line of sight must
Know aircraft’s location, attitude, altitude and direction. Observe for traffic and hazards
Over humans
Person is directly participating or under a cover
Preflight
Weather conditions, airspace restrictions, local people and property, other hazards, ensure control links communicate.
Operating limits
Ground speed doesn’t exceed 87 knots 100 mph, altitude no higher than 400 feet, visibility no less than 3SM, minimum distance must be no less than 500 feet below clouds or 2000 feet horizontally. Cannot operate with a transponder on or ADS-B in transit mode.
Cat 1 operations
Weighs .55 lbs or less, no exposed rotating parts that could cut skin, no sustained flight over people.
Cat 2 operations
No exposed rotating parts that could cut skin, no human injury equivalent to 11 lbs of kinetic energy, must have cat 2 labels visible.
Cat 3 operations
Labeled for cat 3, no flight over people unless it’s in a restricted area and people are notified, kinetic energy no greater than 25 lbs.
Cat 4 operation
Not over people unless you have airworthiness under part 21, perform maintenance and inspection, keep all records maintenance records must be held for a year.
Over moving vehicles
Most remain within a closed access site and all people notified, no sustained flight over moving vehicles
